The Delaware County Summer Festival will celebrate 36 seasons of free, outdoor musical entertainment for county residents!
The Summer Festival runs June 11th-August 15th 2010 at Rose Tree Park in Upper Providence.
Residents can enjoy free, musical entertainment all summer long! Music lovers can hear everything from 50s Bandstand hits, Broadway classics, Jimmy Buffet, Patriotic renditions and modern rock and roll.
There are performances to appeal to every musical taste, as well as special programs for children.
Concerts are scheduled all summer long, Wednesday through Sunday Evenings. Unless otherwise noted, all performances begin at 7:30 p.m.

A Russian ballet dancer wants to defect to the west. But he little realizes the madness that awaits him as his unwitting choice of location is the home of one of a top Ministry of Defense official...a man who would have to turn the defector in if he knew who he was. Everyone including the daughter of the Minister, her fiance, Russian spies and even the local constable gets into the act. Confusion, innuendo, mix ups and misunderstandings all come at us at once! What starts sanely instantly ramps up to hyper speed and no one knows who is what or where.

A collaboration with internationally-renowned artist Stephen powers, Love Letter is a series of over 50 rooftop murals and street-level signs in and around the Market Street corridor in West Philadelphia, spanning from 46th Street through 63rd Street created during the summer of 2009. On this weekly tour, take a ride on the El train accompanied by a Mural Arts Program tour guide to learn intimate details about the renowned Love Letter project and other murals along the way.

The Betsy Ross House is dedicated to preserving the legend of the first flag and the story of Betsy Ross, and all Colonial working-class women. The House, just blocks from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, is one of Philadelphias most popular historic attractions with nearly 300,000 visitors annually. The House is two and a half stories with eight rooms and was originally built in 1740. The House is restored to the period from 1773 to 1785, when Betsy Ross, as the story tells it, created the first American flag. The house is furnished with period antiques and some reproduction furniture. Highlights include several objects known to have belonged to Betsy Ross. Visit Betsy Ross in the new upholstery shop exhibit and learn how her trade prepared her to make our countrys first flag, and see other changing exhibits in the gallery throughout the year. Visitors can meet Betsy Ross, in person, and find out all about her exciting life and times. Also meet some of her Colonial friends, the History Makers, throughout the summer.

The mission of AIB's Vaganova Ballet Summer Intensive is to guide and instruct each student in the finest traditions of the Bolshoi as they pursue their individual path to excellence and to encourage each student to capture in motion their personal thoughts, deepest held beliefs and their highest ideals".

The Academy of International Ballet's Vaganova Ballet Summer Intensive has an established tradition for providing serious students with an immersion experience in the Vaganova method. The Vaganova method is the most common method of teaching ballet in Russia. The summer intensive program offers Intermediate, Advanced and Pre-Professional students a unique learning experience sensitive to the progress of each individual student, under the supervision of AIB's Artistic Director Denis Gronostayskiy, Ballet Mistress Anastasia Babayeva and special guest artists.
Students will experience a program that will alllow them to learn and appreciate the Vaganova method as a personal and individual experience. Class size will be limited. Each student must audition.
Curriculum:
The curriculum of the 2010 AIB Vaganova Ballet Summer Intensive will include both technique classes and lecture courses on subjects critical to the goals of the Vaganova method. AIB's instructional approach and mission is to prepare the motivated dancer for personal growth, self realization and to focus on the goal of performing on the international stage of ballet. July 1, 1776: Congress is debating the Declaration. In Philadelphia, rumors fly. Encounter 18th-century townspeople with strong feelings on both sides of the debate over Independence. Experience the tension and excitement surrounding the signing of the Declaration as Colonial guide Timothy Matlack escorts guests to some of Philadelphias historic treasures, meeting Loyalists and Patriots who make this thrilling time come alive.

Meet the General as he enlists children and adults to join his American spy network to uncover the traitors involved. Learn 18th-century spy techniques including invisible ink, counterespionage, and looking for secret messages as young guests work with operatives to foil the plot.

This evening walking tour visits some of the landmarks of Philadelphias Historic District and is populated with Colonial characters who bring history to life right in the place where it happened. Tour-takers walk through the shadows of Independence Hall (in this exclusive opportunity to visit inside the Hall at night, with no crowds) and experience what those late nights of the summer of 1776 were like for the Founding Fathers. The evening begins with a delicious three-course meal at the Historic City Tavern where Colonial townspeople entertain guests. The Colonial host then sneaks everyone into the Pennsylvania State House (Independence Hall), once he talks his way past the vigilant night watchman. Inside the Hall, visitors witness several Founding Fathers deep in discussion over the creation of the Declaration of Independence.

The Delaware County Summer Festival will celebrate 36 seasons of free, outdoor musical entertainment for county residents!
The Summer Festival runs June 11th-August 15th 2010 at Rose Tree Park in Upper Providence.

The Betsy Ross House is dedicated to preserving the legend of the first flag and the story of Betsy Ross, and all Colonial working-class women. The House, just blocks from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, is one of Philadelphias most popular historic attractions with nearly 300,000 visitors annually. The House is two and a half stories with eight rooms and was originally built in 1740. The House is restored to the period from 1773 to 1785, when Betsy Ross, as the story tells it, created the first American flag. The house is furnished with period antiques and some reproduction furniture. Highlights include several objects known to have belonged to Betsy Ross. Visit Betsy Ross in the new upholstery shop exhibit and learn how her trade prepared her to make our countrys first flag, and see other changing exhibits in the gallery throughout the year. Visitors can meet Betsy Ross, in person, and find out all about her exciting life and times. Also meet some of her Colonial friends, the History Makers, throughout the summer.

Delaware County Intermediate Unit, Head Start Program is a Federal program for preschool children from low-income families.
The Head Start program is operated by the DCIU organization. Children who attend the Head Start participate in a variety of educational activities. They receive free healthy meals, snacks and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe setting.
Head Start helps all children succeed. Services are offered to meet the needs of children with disabilities.
Children in the program are between the ages of three and five years old.

The Academy of International Ballet's Vaganova Ballet Summer Intensive has an established tradition for providing serious students with an immersion experience in the Vaganova method. The Vaganova method is the most common method of teaching ballet in Russia. The summer intensive program offers Intermediate, Advanced and Pre-Professional students a unique learning experience sensitive to the progress of each individual student, under the supervision of AIB's Artistic Director Denis Gronostayskiy, Ballet Mistress Anastasia Babayeva and special guest artists.
Students will experience a program that will alllow them to learn and appreciate the Vaganova method as a personal and individual experience. Class size will be limited. Each student must audition.

The curriculum of the 2010 AIB Vaganova Ballet Summer Intensive will include both technique classes and lecture courses on subjects critical to the goals of the Vaganova method. AIB's instructional approach and mission is to prepare the motivated dancer for personal growth, self realization and to focus on the goal of performing on the international stage of ballet. Thirteen one-of-a-kind Once Upon A Nation Storytelling Benches are scattered all over Philadelphia's Historic District, telling riveting stories of our nation's history in the places where they actually happened. Specially-trained, uniformed storytellers delight and entertain with free, short 5-minute stories while sharing the secrets of Philadelphia's and America's history. Children can pick up a Story Flag at any storytelling bench, then collect a star from each storyteller on their journey. Mural Mile Guided Walking Tours

This evening walking tour visits some of the landmarks of Philadelphias Historic District and is populated with Colonial characters who bring history to life right in the place where it happened. Tour-takers walk through the shadows of Independence Hall (in this exclusive opportunity to visit inside the Hall at night, with no crowds) and experience what those late nights of the summer of 1776 were like for the Founding Fathers. The evening begins with a delicious three-course meal at the Historic City Tavern where Colonial townspeople entertain guests. The Colonial host then sneaks everyone into the Pennsylvania State House (Independence Hall), once he talks his way past the vigilant night watchman. Inside the Hall, visitors witness several Founding Fathers deep in discussion over the creation of the Declaration of Independence.

Guaranteed to educate and entertain, these one-of-a-kind Once Upon A Nation Storytelling Benches are in four locations around Valley Forge National Historical Park. Storytellers, trained at the unique Benstitute, share riveting stories of the encampment, and how it became a turning point in the Revolutionary War. Short, five-minute stories are told for free at one of the signature 13-foot curved benches. Unlike the storytelling benches in Philadelphias Historic District which close for the season on Labor Day, the benches at Valley Forge will continue to operate into the fall, corresponding to the popular time of year for the Park.
