Free Insect Fun Event free with general admission
Fantastic insects are always on display at the Insectarium. You'll be amazed while the bugs take you on a journey to different bioclimatic zones around your world. Cockroaches which turn plants into soil, bugs which cause you to itch, insects which swim underwater like scubadivers. You must visit to know which critters you'll enjoy seeing most. Some of our displays of critters are endangered, others are endangering our own cities. The natural habitat for many of our displays is changing rapidly because of industrial pollution, light pollution, air & water resource injury and habitat loss. Get to see the good guys, the bad guys, and the endangered guys. Insects are necessary for our way of life. Insects and their cousins help maintain what we call the balance of nature. Our understanding of this balance changes daily and we need to understand as much as possible to make wise choices in our life. Bees in our hive pollinate the plants around our facility. Many insects are scavengers and clean up our environment for us helping the food plants we eat to grow. Many species of beetles, ants and wasps damage our food crops and limit our food supply. Insects burrowing in the soil help our lawn and foot plants grow.
